ASUOGYAMAN DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On Friday 15th September 2023, the District Chief Executive of Asuogyaman District Assembly Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum handed over Five hundred and fifty (550) Dual Desk to the District Director of Education, Asuogyaman to be distributed to some selected schools within the District.

The Chief Executive for Asuogyaman District Assembly Hon Samuel Kwame Agyekum together with the Eastern Regional Minister Hon Seth Kwame Acheampong and Officials from the Regional and District Education Directorate on Monday 7th August, 2023 toured some examination centers designated for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examinations within the District. The tour was for the Regional Minister , the DCE and the Education Directorate to motivate the students ahead of the examinations and to also have first hand information on how the exams would be conducted. The entourage toured Akwamuman Senior High School, and other Cluster of schools examination within the District. Total of 2064 candidates made up of 1026 Boys and 1038 Girls sat for this year's BECE in the District .

The District Chief Executive of the Asuogyaman District Assembly on 30th May 2023 commissioned a six-seater ultra-modern W/C toilet facility for Tortibo basic school. The headmaster of the school Mr. Edem Tawiah Morrison on behalf of the entire school community expressed his gratitude for the initiative granted them by the government. He further commended the contractor for completing the project despite the challenges he encountered due to land litigation. The headmaster of the school appealed to the DCE to secure the land for the school to avoid future uncertainties. He also appealed for teachers’ bungalow explaining that teachers leave very far from the town and thus making it difficult for teaching and learning to be effective. He indicated that despite the accommodation challenges, teachers at the school do their best to make sure the students perform excellently in their BECE performances. He also added that Poor road network also deters newly posted teachers from coming to the school hence appealed to the government to help with the poor nature of the roads. The headmaster hinted that, construction of the school’s JHS block and ICT block has been halted for some time and therefore pleaded with the DCE to release the contractor to site to complete the two projects. The headmaster also acknowledged how wonderfully the school performs in their sporting activities especially in crickets and handball. He also pleaded with the DCE and the District Director of Education to help one of his students who gained admission into the Manya Krobo SHS but could not because the family was unable to raise funds to cater for her needed items. The District Director of Education in her remarks informed the gathering that proper sanitation promotes good health, hence charged the school to take full control of the facility and make sure to always keep it tidy. She also sounded a word of caution to the community members telling them the facility is purposely for the school and not the community and so the school authority together with the PTA chairman should ensure that the facility is well utilized. She also added that, the project is designed for all schools in the Asuogyaman District and hopes all schools will get their share of the national cake soon.

The Hon. DCE Samuel Kwame Agyekum on 19th May, 2023 attended the closing ceremony of the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project Trainees at the Ghana Korea Germany Mission Computing Training School,Akosombo.
